The Journey

Being born into a lower-middle-class family in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, Sajan had a knack for business from the beginning. He initially started working as a milk boy when he moved to Kuwait and worked under his uncle after his father passed away when he was 16. His financial struggles propelled him to work hard to earn and sustain. During his stay in Kuwait for 8 years, he witnessed political tensions and the Gulf War between Kuwait and Iraq. Even during the war, his business mind made its way to earn. He started selling telegrams, which allowed him to earn a decent fraction of money. In his interview with Kamiya Jani, editor-in-chief of Curly Tales, he discussed his struggle during the war which forced his return to Mumbai.

In the search to carve out a path for himself, he started selling oil on the streets for 100 Dirhams in Dubai. His journey took a turn when he started the Danube Group. After that, he never looked back.

The Success Story with Danube Group

The small enterprise, Danube Group which was established in 1993, now has a turnover in billions. It deals in retail building materials, home decor, garden equipment, and real estate and has captured the market in the Middle East, including Oman, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. It is now the fastest-growing private real-estate developer in the UAE. According to a media report, Rizwan Sajan today has a net worth of Rs. 20,830 crores.
